Stretching all the way from Garrison, ND to Williston, ND Lake Sakakawea is the 3rd largest man-made lake reservoir in the in the country. It has more than 1,300 miles of shoreline around the lake, which is actually more than the coast of California! This lake offers something to do year-round with ice fishing in the winter and regular fishing, boating, swimming, sailing, kayaking, and more in the summer.
This weekly summer event is the talk of the town in the Williston area! Every Thursday from June 30th to August 25th, downtown Williston becomes a large block party with concerts, beer tents, kids’ activities, and plenty of food vendors. This is all thanks to The Williston Downtowner’s association and local businesses.
This park is a little over 2 miles around and has a 14-acre size lake right in the middle! There are trails for bikes, walking, and running, a dog park, playgrounds, and a boat-shaped building with a kitchen that can be rented out for parties and events! Several events are held in this park each year including 5k runs, mud runs, vendor events, etc. In the winter, there is a Christmas lights drive through the whole park!
Sitting at 5 acres, this is the largest park district-owned indoor recreation center in the country! It features 13,000 Square Feet of indoor turf space for soccer and other athletic events. It has a full gym, waterpark, Olympic-sized swimming pool, golf simulators, two indoor tracks, and a host of conference rooms that can be reserved for meetings!
